A narrative card deck
As the husband of a Michigander, many of our nights have been filled with card games like 500, Eucher, Spades, and Hold em'. My love of design and games in concert with my history at the card table spurred the motivation to design my own deck of cards. These all began as simple sketches that grew in meaning and story over time. Eventually leading to this set of Rogue Warriors—a band of misfit women whose stories are created and changed by the people who use them.
These characters explore the notion of ego and alter ego. The red suits (hearts and diamonds) portray the outward facing self, while the black cards (clubs and spades) portray their darker internal identity. These characters wrestle with their own histories and identities as they face of one another.
